Southern Sippin’: The Sweet Tea Smash

Southern Sippin’: The Sweet Tea Smash

Down here, summer comes with its own set of traditions: dogs on point, boats in the water, and tall glasses of sweet tea that don’t stay full for long. But when the afternoon heat really sets in—or when the fish fryer’s working overtime—you need something with a little more kick.

Enter the Sweet Tea Smash: Our go-to summertime cocktail for porch hangs, crawfish boils, or sandbar Sundays. It’s simple, refreshing, and just southern enough to remind you why we love this time of year.

Sweet Tea Smash Ingredients

  • 2 oz good bourbon (We prefer Woodford Reserve)

  • 3 oz sweet tea (the sweeter the better)

  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice

  • 4-5 mint leaves

  • Crushed ice

  • Lemon wedge or mint sprig for garnish

How to Make It
In a shaker, gently muddle mint leaves and lemon juice. Add bourbon and sweet tea. Fill with ice and shake lightly. Strain into a rocks glass over crushed ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge or fresh mint sprig. Sip slow and enjoy the shade.

Pro Tip:
Make a big batch in a pitcher for an easy crowd-pleaser at your next fish fry or family BBQ.

Whether you’re fresh off the boat or just winding down from a long week, the Sweet Tea Smash is one of those simple pleasures that just hits right.

Here’s to good friends, good bourbon, and long southern summers. Cheers!
