      My Last Jacket

      If you are looking for a well built jacket with a timeless design then you found the right company. I did my research, looked at all the competitors, and even borrowed jackets from friends to make sure I got the perfect one. To me this jacket hits all the marks. Perfect weight, color, design, pocket size, right collar size, comes with a hood, heavy duty zippers, free can of wax, and so on! Iv gotten compliments every time I wear this jacket out. It get better with age and look forward to handing this jacket down to my son one day. I have 100 percent confidence that this jacket will be my last. Good job OU!

      Great Jacket

      Love it. This will become my favorite jacket. I am 6 ft, 195 pounds with an athletic build. I originally ordered the medium based on the table (42 in chest) and it was too small. Exchanged for the large and it is perfect and will allow for layering. Very well designed and comfortable - I am surprised at how taken I am by the orange safety collar - it pretty cool and it stands apart from others. A handsome jacket - you will look good in it. If the rest of Over Under is of this quality, I will be buying more things.

      MINOR SUGGESTED IMPROVEMENTS:
      The cloth interior extends down the sleeve so you will have to grab your shirt sleeve cuff as you extend the arm into the jacket in order to avoid bunching. Consider a different material inside the sleeve.

      Quality could not be better

      I bought the Waxed Briar jacket in field tan last year and I love it. Compared to another jacket I own, a waxed canvas jacket from Filson, the material of the Waxed Briar is thinner and more tightly woven. This makes it feel more pliable and softer.

      I am 6’0", 195 lb, and the large fits great. Perfect sleeve length and some room for layering.

      I love the recessed cuffs. This gives you modern warmth and comfort with an old-school appearance. I also appreciate that the jacket uses snaps everywhere instead of buttons. Snaps are more easily opened and closed with gloved hands.

      The one Achilles’ heel is that the shell material has no elasticity at all and there are no expansion joints or shoulder gussets. To make matters worse, while the sleeves of most jackets are lined with a smooth material that allows your arms to slide in them, the sleeves of this jacket are lined with same plaid material as the body. The consequence of this design is that the freedom of movement in my arms is restricted more than any other jacket I’ve owned, including the Filson. Although the Waxed Briar is marketed as a hunting jacket, if you try to shoulder a long gun, it pulls tight across the back from elbow to elbow. You can still do it but it’s not much fun.

      Ultimately, while I don’t plan to wear mine on a hunt, it is nonetheless a beautiful, high-quality jacket and I’m very happy with it.
